Bach-Siloti Sonatas for Violin and Piano
on: March 17, 2018, 03:09:13 PM
I discovered several years ago that among the music my mother gave me before she died, were scores marked up by my grandfather (Alexander Siloti) of four Bach Sonatas' for Violin and Harpsicord, arranging them for Violin and Piano. My grandfather, being a Pianist, did the Piano part modifications. Some unknown Violinist marked up the Violin parts. These 4 Sonatas of Bach are BWV 1014, BWV 1015, BWV 1016, and BWV 1018. I have worked the last three years transfering these marked up scores into printable format and now have them in .pdf format. I have attempted to be very accurate with the transfer to printable form, but occasionally came across hard to make out markings.
These modified scores are essentially 19th century versions of Bach's Sonatas which of coarse would not be acceptable for some purest desiring strict interpretations of the composers work, but many others may enjoy them. My goal is to have these works performed to both validate the accuracy of the scores (contact me to have any corrections made) and to hear what Siloti has created. Ultimately, I would like to get a video of a performance of these works that I could put on my YouTube account for others to hear.
If anybody is interested in performing these scores, simply request them in my email account (alexsiloti@gmail.com) and I will email you the .pdf file of the scores.
All the research I have done about these scores indicates they were never published and its unlikely that anybody today knows these arrangements exist.
