Topic: Mexican piano pieces (Read 3270 times)

Greetings,

I am looking for a piano piece from a mexican compositor, but with a certain level, neither lower nor higher than the current one where I am.

I am not sure about my level, but I have played the next pieces:

Sinfonia 1 C major, JS Bach
Nocturne op 9 no 1, FF Chopin
Sonata XVI no 27, Haydn
Minuet sur le nom d'Haydn, M Ravel
Gavota, MM Ponce

Currently, I am learning Sonata KV 310 of Mozart, Reverie of Debussy, Sonatine of Kabalebski, and I still need to think in another Sinfonia of Bach and in another Romantic piece, as well as thinking in a Czerny exercise.

But I am clueless when it is choosing a piece from a mexican composer.

Could you please give me some suggestions?

You might try Chavez' Prelude #2

If that seems a bit too difficult, you could try his 1st prelude:

Or if these are not to your taste, perhaps travel south a bit more..
A. Ginestera, Malambo. (Quite fun to play!)

Also by Ginestera - 'Tres Piezas' - (interesting blend of influences)

Thanks, I like the 1st Prelude, I am going to listen all the 10 preludes to decide with which one I could start with.

About Ginestera, I can wait a little longer.

Say, do you know where I can get the scores of the Preludes?
