da SDC
on: March 25, 2018, 07:39:36 PM
Hmm, what is this?  Some sort of absurdist piano forum with gobs and gobs of rare, unreleased recordings by golden age pianists?  Wow, where did they find all these unreleased recitals by people like Richter, Berman, Friedman, Feinberg, Argerich, Lhevinne, Horowitz, Cliburn, etc.?

Though you have to register to see the recording section.

Who here has heard of da SDC?  Is it worth joining?

(John Wayne voice)  Is that you?  Are you me?

There used to be several sdc members here.  I didn't like having to decipher or even trying to type like that just to type or read a sentence.  Too much work while keeping the concept you wanted to express in mind.

m1469/ K. imploded.  Got into an argument about a recording.  Then deleted all her posts on day.

Pianistississississimo decided to quit after she had a trillion or so posts.

Zheer I'm not sure.  I remember him though.  Just faded off my radar on here.

I would guess the sdc guys were in high school or college.  They aged and... moved on to something else.  Not posting here so much now.

It was kind of a breath of life, some kind of hipness, into things.

Yeah, it's considerably more active than here, for example!  And the people seem vastly more knowledgeable.

Still shocked at the preposterous amount of recordings they have up.  How long have they been plugging away at building that collection?  Tons of stuff by Ginzburg, Michelangeli, Orozco and Kapell, and many more!  Amazing to listen to.

Sometimes I sorta miss those times.

The "lingo" of dsdc had been banned here.

I found it quite hilarious.

Hi Bob!  :)

Good grief, two ghosts from the past turning up in one week ! Chopinatic has posted too. Your piano voice is always welcome in the improvisation section Wolfi.

Quite a few good players have belonged to the SDC, Brendan Kinsella from Pianoworld among them. It's good fun and there are some fine recordings there. I doubt I would be fast enough for it, even if I could master the vernacular.
