I will be having my first lesson with a prospective new teacher (and I am her prospective new student.) She has asked me to bring one piece I feel is "done" and another on which I am working.

Should I bring the most difficult piece I've done, or an easier one?

For the "done" piece, I'd say choose something that best shows your abilities.

For the second piece, maybe choose something that you are using to stretch your abilities to the next level.  Not a piece that is an obviously ridiculous leap, but something that is attainable in the near future. Something that says: this is the direction I want to go in music, and are you (the teacher) the right fit for me.

From the teacher side, when meeting with a prospective student I want to see work ethic, commitment, and professionalism.  For me, the ability to work with a student is more important than the raw skills a student brings when meeting for the first time.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
