Haunted Staircase 51 - for piano
on: May 04, 2018, 04:50:10 PM
This piece uses a harmonic sequence that has been popular for many composers' variations throughout the ages .. (hence the 'haunted')
The roots of the harmonic sequence form a zig-zag pattern (V-I sequence; 51), which is used as a motivic cell for melodic exploitation.
This piece morphs through time periods - from baroque through to the late romantic..
I just finished the composition, and haven't got round to recording yet, though I try to simulate as much i can the 'realistic' rendering.

What do you guys think for this being an opening number to a recital?

Comments are appreciated.  Thanks for listening.

Very enjoyable piece!  Bachish at the beginning. at :27 sounds like Beethoven then moves to late romantic like you say.  This should work well in a recital.  Perfect tempo in this demonstration recording.   Be sure to post an actual performance if you decide to record this.
