Piano Street Magazine:
Toward the Flame: Boris Petrushansky’s Journey Through Scriabin’s Universe

Alexander Scriabin died in April 1915, at forty-three, of a fever that took him within a week — leaving his great mystical project unfinished. He left behind a piano language no one had spoken before, one that a century later still questions every interpreter who approaches it. Boris Petrushansky has spent a lifetime preparing his answer. In a new album and an extended conversation with Piano Street, he traces Scriabin’s path from the early Preludes to the final, shattering Op. 74. Read more

Stravinsky- Petroushka Mov.1 (Danse Russe)
on: March 17, 2019, 02:42:13 AM
I want my interpretation to be light and whimsical. I think far too much crashing and banging comes out when people perform this piece.

However, I'm more than open to suggestions. Just rip it apart, I know a lot needs to improve and I perform it in two weeks. Any ideas are great, none too large or two small.

Also, I'm a freshman undergraduate piano student at Cedarville University. If anybody around here remembers me (first of all hi) and I just want to rectify my reputation a little. I kinda learned how to be a social human being at college and yes, I still can play the piano a little bit.

That's all, caio. Hope you're all doing well.

I listened tot his about 2 months ago.  Here is what I remember:

Very enjoyable to listen to this.  The glissando was perfect.  Not as fast and exciting as I am used to hearing but very enjoyable nevertheless.

You appear to stay in your comfort zone, which is very important.  On the other hand, to make this more exciting you may need to get out of this comport zone.  It's a balancing act.  Maybe be able to perform nicely and cleanly as you do here and also be able to perform this with a little more gusto, understanding that you may make some mistakes?

Anyway: well done!

This is really, really, solid. Sometimes I feel like I lose the intense metric consistency for merely a blip in time, which I'm only acknowledging because I feel like that stability is one of the most important qualities to project while performing this. But overall, it's super good. Musically curious, technically proficient, and well interpretively well organized throughout. Glad to know you'll keep growing with this. It's a good fit for you!

Best,

AJ
