The first is vintage Wright, soaring lyrical octave melody over impassioned left hand changes, often involving diminisheds, and it remains highly effective to my ears. The second is more interesting, making use of a wider variety of playing forms and grips, one or two of which I don’t think I have heard from you before, but I could be mistaken. As far as the underlying sentiment goes, you are indisputably as articulate in its expression as those past masters whose music you emulate. There are others out there who play in roughly similar style, but they seem to be mostly lock-step, notational phrase and answer boys, bar of this chord, bar of that. Improvisation should have deeper imperatives,it seems to me.

The second one completely diverted my wife’s attention from reading about scandals of royalty, and believe me, that is more of a compliment than you can imagine !

Thanks Ted. I've become more convinced as I get older that such forms, in addition to composition, are the truest expression of my musical identity. I don't think these are the best improvisations I've done, by some distance tbh, but they definitely have appealing qualities and it is nice to see them being appreciated.

Very enjoyable!  These styles certainly form a close bond with your musical voice: you express ideas through them so effortlessly.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
