Just saw this now - amazing playing! How long did it take you to learn this thing?

Lovely playing, as always; but what's the matter with the people walking past, were they deaf ? If somebody played like that where I was walking I would come to an abrupt halt.

Thanks: it's been in my repertoire for a long now, sufficiently long that I have no conscious memory of learning time! Tbh it's flashy, but not super difficult; I don't think would take more than a week nowadays. I did partly substitute my own cadenza for Liszt's, which I suppose provides a caveat in that the leaps in his one are difficult to be precise about without compromising the tempo.

No idea  ;D
Perhaps my cameraman intimidated them.. I normally get some level of response.

Amazing performance!  Does playing on an upright ever give problems?

I see that you performed this on your 2nd cd - I checked just now.  For some reason I thought you wrote the fantasy.  My mistake.

I don't mind playing on a decent upright such as this. Definitely played on infinitely worse grands in student practice rooms!

Una corda doesn't really have a lot of effect, but that's about the only big issue for me.

The timbre change isn't there even if the volume is.
Dude, amazing playing. This was very enjoyable to watch.

Thanks, appreciated!

Totally agree that there is a visual aspect to pieces like this: tbh I think they are better appreciated in that context than in a purely aural one.

For me personally, I appreciate much more your perfectly performed and recorded version on your 2nd cd using a well prepared/tuned concert grand.  This live performance does show that you can play great in a live setting on an upright.

True, but good video of the original studio recording would add considerably to it, imo. Audio was of course superior in every way there; this piano isn't completely in tune, though it is in good condition for a public piano.

Unfortunately, when you're busy recording audio takes and on a limited time schedule, doing video isn't a priority!
