Tips for practicing Mendelssohn's Op.19 No.1 (Songs Without Words)
on: January 16, 2020, 08:53:31 PM
Recently picked up a lovely edition of the complete
Songs Without Words
by Mendelssohn. I immediately fell in love with the first one (op.19 no.1) in E major and I've set myself the challenge of learning it - here's a video for reference:
I've been breaking it up into small sections of about 5-bars and playing very slowly. Memory is proving to be difficult because it's changes harmony on each beat. Anybody else played this lovely piece? Any tips for learning?
