Epic Czerny etude - "ultimate" classical etude?
on: January 29, 2020, 01:55:25 AM
I was able to discover this great Youtube channel that had videos of Czerny studies that I never heard recorded before.

Known for coming up with a lot of the virtuoso technique used in the early Romantic period, Czerny's studies vary from beginner to virtuoso level, but this piece in particular really impressed me.

I suggest that anyone interested in lesser-known repertoire check this out, it may be a good alternative to the large-scale etudes of Liszt or Alkan.

What I'm really wondering is the mysterious performer of the work - which does not at all sound like a midi to me. Incidentally, the channel uploaded other works with apparently the same performer recording it - including the widely-known "School of Velocity". Does anyone have an idea who this is? As well as the year this piece was composed?

Thanks and best wishes,
