The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Nice harmonic twists in this. The manner of major/minor changes, almost within the phrase, were reminiscent of some Busoni.

Thanks for listening.  Admittedly, I don't recall consciously thinking of Busoni at the time, but now that you mention it, some of the harmonic progressions do have such flavour.

I listened several times and shall probably listen more. The sentiment is strangely compelling, although I am not driven to analyse why. I haven't heard much Busoni, but I was reminded of certain pieces by Frank Bridge, whose piano music I am very fond of. I have to say that your titles, unlike mine, are well suited to the music in a way the listener is likely to understand. You also use simple means effectively, a trick I have not yet quite mastered.

Thanks for listening, Ted.  I do have to admit, I find titles challenging at times.  Though, I feel that a title can form an additional layer of connection between music and listener.
