Am I understanding this correctly? Is this even written conventionally or is it very unorthodox? I had someone transcribe me something and I came across it.
This is in 4/4 time and the entire thing lasts for 1 quarter note in duration. I'm confused starting from the G note on the 5 note grouping. I am thinking of it like this:
Starting on the G, the G, A, & Bb notes are simply just how you would begin to play a standard 32nd note quintuplet(i.e 5 notes over an eighth note duration). The last note C visually appears to be lasting as long as the first two 32nd's are. However, it looks like it is implied to last the duration of "X" amount of 32nds to carry out if it was actually written as a standard 32nd note quintuplet.
I am just trying to fit this into the idea of "What if it was just a simple 32nd note quintuplet played over an eighth note". So essentially in it's simplest form it would be 5 notes played against 1. It is not that simple as you can see written, but I try to start basic before I can understand the actual thing.
Please can someone explain how to understand this as simple as possible!
