Piano Forum

Hi,

This is my first time posting here. (I am an engineering student from Germany).
On april  I decided to restart playing/learning the Piano. So i bought a piano, got myself a teacher.... I Played the piano when I was young so i did not start from scratch. I can read the notes, sight read some simple pieces....
The pieces I learned are:
- mozart easy sonata
- kuhlau sonatina (don't know the number but is similar to the Mozart easy sonata )
- Schubert Moment musical n°3
- Chopin Waltz n°17 in A minor and op 69 n°2
- Bach invention 1, 4, and I am still working on n 6

The thing is i really really want to play some Mazurkas, looking at the score of some of them makes me think it is somthing i can do, but my teacher really discourages me and says they are too difficult.
Should I trust him and wait? because I sometimes feel he always underestimates me, or do you think that there are some Mazurkas that i can manage ?
Also it is really annoying that he makes me play some hanon at the beginning of each session.
