Toward the Flame: Boris Petrushansky’s Journey Through Scriabin’s Universe

Alexander Scriabin died in April 1915, at forty-three, of a fever that took him within a week — leaving his great mystical project unfinished. He left behind a piano language no one had spoken before, one that a century later still questions every interpreter who approaches it. Boris Petrushansky has spent a lifetime preparing his answer. In a new album and an extended conversation with Piano Street, he traces Scriabin’s path from the early Preludes to the final, shattering Op. 74. Read more

Hi everyone! Thought I would share a project I worked on a couple of months ago - The Evolution of Piano Music in C-Major:

In this video you’ll hear works by 46 different composers, spanning roughly 200 years of music history. Would love to hear what you all think! If you enjoy it, please do consider subscribing for more fun and informative videos.

Hello,

a fun idea and a well compiled video. May I suggest to include an important piano work which is the Prokofiev Sonata 9 op 103 in C Major.  Maybe you could somehow emphasize pieces that are a major milestone like the Waldstein? No clue how to do that.

Thanks it was fun! You are on to something here ... many keys to go  :D

That was great. I'm guessing you had to stop before Shostakovich's Prelude and Fugue in C major because of copyright.

Really fun. I'm looking forward to the remaining 23 videos.

So glad you guys enjoyed it! Although the recording bit was fun, the planning certainly wasn't...(think endless excel spreadsheets and wading through imslp for hours). I'd love to have included more but I decided on a one-piece-per-composer rule; also I stopped after 200 years because it was too hard finding (good) C-Major works after Stravinsky!
