OUTRAGEOUS "Pieces" :)
on: February 04, 2005, 04:09:04 AM
just got back from a symphony.  they had a concerto and after applauding the pianist did a solo i believe by stravinsky. OHHHHHHH MAN.  lets just say he tore that bosendorfer up!  anyways that got me thinking "what songs are out there that just makes your draw drop and makes ya wanna jump out of your chair.

i can only think of one song and that is liszt's "wilde jag" aka "the wild hunt".  if any of you can think of piano songs that you'll probably never be able to play post them so i can download the midi file.

I dont want to feel like a snob, but the word is PIECE! -not song, and why are you looking for MIDI's?  They suck!  Classical music has been around forever, Im sure you can find most everything you want in live and studio recordings at the local library..

That Stravinsky solo wouldnt have happened to be "Petrouchka" would it?  If so, yeah i know how you feel..

If you like that sort of stuff, maybe look at Prokofiev's Diabolical suggestion, or Liszt's Grand Galop Chromatique.  -Musically, not much here, but it's still hella fun to listen to!

Do you really think that nobody's asked this before?  Search the forum.  (Though maybe not for "outrageous songs.")

I second the Wild Jagd especially when played by Kissin and also the same artist playing Feux Follets the Fifth Transcendental Etude by Liszt. Other Wow pieces are: Scarbo by Maurice Ravel
Flight of the Bumblebee in the Cziffra transcription

There are so many it is difficult to think of all them.
