ritmuller or boston
on: March 22, 2021, 03:20:32 AM
Hi
I am looking for a baby grand to replace my aging baby grand  George Steck 1943. It still runs well, but the action of newer piano is much better.
My options:
1)Used Boston GP156, GP163, or GP178 around 12-15K
2)New GH160 Ritmuller, 5'3 around 11-12K
3)used J Pramberger PS185, 6'0" by Samick 2008 (asking price $7k)
Any help? My original intention was to replace my piano with another newer babygrand, with better action. A piano that I will enjoy and also retains its value if I want to sell it several years from now.   I like Boston, for the sound and action and I think its better to get a better piano, but gently used  for much less price than a newer piano. I also love the Ritmuller, but it has less history on how long it can last before I need to replace/ fix things.  The reputation of chinese piano is getting much better recently, but is relatively new product and not much information on how long before problem will start. The dealer mentioned that the performance and specifications (hammer, string, sound boards, and other parts of the piano) of the Ritmuller are much better compared with other piano with similar price. Last option is to purchase much less expensive used piano from a private seller (J. Pramberger by Samick, 2008, very gently used). Its a nice piano even though I would prefer the Boston. The asking price is 7K, If it has problem, at least it will not depreciate much farther. Any help, input, opinion,....on these pianos are greatly appreciated. ANy problem I should aware with used Boston. ANy info on Ritmuller perfomance overtime... I am an intermediate-advance student, playing bach invention, beethoven sonata, etc, 2 hrs practice time a day.
