Scriabin Alternate Version of Etudes
on: February 07, 2005, 03:17:49 AM
Hello Everybody,

I am giving a recital of the complete op. 11 preludes and the complete op. 8 etudes of Scriabin.

In terms of an encore, I was thinking of playing the rare 2nd version of the D# minor, op. 8, no. 12, etude. It is really very different from the original version and it is really very beautiful.

I was wondering, is anybody else familiar with it or has played it?

I have a recording of it by Ponti if anybody is interested.
Give me an e-mail at alistairebowler@hotmail.com if you are interested.

Also, I believe that there is a Sofronitsky recording of it. Does anybody have this? I would LOVE a copy.

Cheers

In my opinion, the second is far superior.

Daniel
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Jo. I sent you an email, I've never heard this second version, and I'm extremely curious.

My hat's off to you for even considering doing both versions in the same recital!  Will you play both memorized?

I just looked at the score for the 2nd version -- I'd be interested in hearing a recording if you have one!
