Chorus in the Morning Light (Piano and birds)
on: June 12, 2021, 09:42:31 PM

The birds have be rather vocal in the mornings these past few weeks, so I thought about making some music with them.  In addition to the piano mics, I placed another microphone outside an open window in order to better capture their song.  What you hear are the birds singing in real time outside my window as I improvise along.  This is not pre-recorded bird song.  Various species appear, as well as a visit from a flock of geese.

These particular birds seemed more responsive to pitches in the middle of the piano, as opposed to playing in the upper registers.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

It does! I just started listening and haven't heard all 15 minutes of it, but this is solid stuff, man. Sounds great so far!

The low fly over was certainly unexpected.

What an interesting idea. The limpid recorded sound of the piano goes together well with the sounds of nature, imo.

lovely, when I improvise the birds outside come close to the open window as well and sing along, this is where magic inspiration comes from they are my gurus of music.
Certainly theyre infinitely better musicians than I could ever be!

Thanks for listening, ronde.

I was imagining if a concert hall had windows that could open to the sounds of nature, what would that sound like?  Of course no concert hall here, just my home piano and an open window.

For creatures that produce music all day long, they do get a lot of practice.   :)
