Help me pick a new piece!
on: August 01, 2021, 08:28:31 PM
Hi everyone,

First post here, hope this is the right section to post to :/

I'm looking for something new to read during the summer break along with what I'm currently practicing for my exams (Bach Wtc I, Czerny op. 740, Mozart k330, Liszt's Sonnets 104, 123...)but the problem is that I have no idea of what to choose; I dare say that Liszt's 104 sonnet has been the hardest piece I've ever studied, but it really wasn't that hard. (The challenge was playing it musically well and not just screwing up the important passages because they were written in ff or doing excessive rubatos)

So, my question is: is there any other piece slightly harder than the 104 Sonnet? The 7/8 grade levels make no sense to me (we don't use this classification in my country) I'd like to know which other Romantic pieces I could start to read.
Edit: I Know I could sight-read **every piece I'd like to play**, but I'm not going to sight-read the Beethoven 110 sonata just to feel discouraged 🥺

Hmm difficult to answer, there are many great pieces. Maybe Liebestraum (the famous one) would be within reach?
