Music sentences with ABCDEFG
on: August 17, 2021, 02:52:49 AM
I like to make music words for students I'm teaching reading to but I was thinking about making up sentences with only ABCDEFG, a little more challenging to create!

Are there any sentences you could make with only ABCDEFG? I sometimes make up sentences which use other letters and add them in as given letters but it would add to the mystery if it was only ABCDEFG, even if it doesn't make sense.

- A bad Badabadda cafe, Cafe de Cebada, fed a dead aged beef cabbaged egg.

Badabadda is a small town in Sri lanka and Spanish for 'coffee of barley' is Cafe de Cebada.

After some suggestions:
- A bad Badabadda cafe, Cafe de Cebada, fed aged dad Abbe a dead, caged aged beef, cabbaged egg. "Egad! A bad egg!" Abbe faded, faced a bed, a dead dad.

You could make use the various common place cryptograms to get a more complete usage of the alphabet.

The Wikipedia article actually has quite a long list of examples of spelling musical motifs.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

This is too good to not be used for, well, something, anything!

Yes that's a good idea. I sometimes create words with other letters and just give those letters. It's cool just to give something that is a total mystery from the get go.

This is too good to not be used for, well, something, anything!
Thanks ana :P Maybe we could extend it more I've stolen some peoples ideas lol.

A bad Badabadda cafe, Cafe de Cebada, fed aged dad Abbe a dead, caged aged beef, cabbaged egg. "Egad! A bad egg!" Abbe faded, faced a bed, a dead dad.

Here are some others people shared so far:

“Cad!”, Bea ceded.
Egad! A bad egg!
Cabbage fed aged dad
A caged beaded bag
Baggage
Feed a baggage cage
Face a bed.
A fab cab dad faced a bad egg gaff.
Cage baggage, add aged caggage.
Babe dabbed a defaced cafe.
A bedded beef beaded a bad caged feed.
Dead ace defaced a bad edge face.
A caged deer egged deaf cafe.
A fad cab bagged a bad egg
A faded bag? Aged bad, a dead fad.

And this piece of music which uses musical words:

Yes but it's more interesting to make sentences up with just the letters ABCDEFG. We have the H key in German but English learning pianists would be a little confused by that I guess.

I mean you can create many sentences based on the words in the sentences already shared by others

Bea fed dad aged cabbage.
Feed dad a bad egg.

Yes that's why I asked people to suggest some ideas. One could also input multiple repetitions of all the musical letters in a word solver (eg: https://anagram-solver.net/) and come up with possible words but it's the order of those words which requires some sort of creativity.

This is fun.
Ed faced bed edge. Ed face dead.
Bed gagged Ed. Ed begged.
Bed beaded dead Ed, a faded facade.

Murderous beds, make sure never to buy them or let them turn you into beads to be used to decorate building facades.

A bad Bagdad dad defaced aged cabbage.
What did that old cabbage ever do to the Bagdad dad??

Bad Deb fed Dad aged cabbage, bagged dead Dad, cabbed Bagdad, fed deaf babe… Egad! Bad deed!
I like the drama. Was Deb really bad feeding her dad the poisonous aged cabbage? Maybe it was because she put him in a bag and fled to Bagdad. She fed a deaf babe, that must be why she went through the ordeal. Poor babe.... but yes it was a bad deed to do such things!
