Error in Scriabin sonata no. 8?

Hi,

I'm puzzled by the difference in the encircled notes for the measures 104 and 402 (relevant parts in the image bellow). The section in recapitulation should be the same as the one in exposition, just transposed (plus an extra voice in the right hand), but there's this single note that ruins the symmetry of the part (in bar 402 should be D instead of C)

Is this an error in the score, or there is a valid reason for this discrepancy?

Good question. Henle Urtext has C natural and no comment about it in the "Comments" section at the end, but you are right that it should be D natural if the transposition was the same. I would follow the score but that's just me, I have no idea if the difference is intentional or an error, though.

I'm with you; play it how you think it should be.  Scriabin's scores, especially the late ones, tend to have more errors than usual stuff of that caliber, the Vers la flamme and Sonata 10 especially.

I would go with your instinct, as many Scriabin scores tend to have errors of similar nature.  If a pattern is established within a piece and it is broken for an isolated instance, and there seems to be no musical or logical reason for doing so, then I would consider the possibility of a notation error.  Also, if you are familiar with Scriabin's style and harmony and the isolated note in question does not seem to fit, it could support the argument that it is an error.

Thanks for your input folks. Comparing with the other similar passages in the piece, maybe the recapitulation is indeed erroneous, but I wouldn't bet
