What grade are these two pieces?
on: February 09, 2005, 07:21:15 PM
Hi, I´m curious about the grade (or difficulty level) of these two pieces:
Gavotte from Bach´s french suites
and Sonatina in F by Beethoven
thanks in advance

Sonatina in F is around grade 4.
Which gavotte? (there is more than one). In any case have a look here where grades for all movements of all French suites have been provided.

(Grades for all Inventions, sinfonias, French and English suites)
Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Thanks a lot. Actually I´m not sure which Gavotte it is, but I´ll try to look it up in context.

ok, found it, it was gavotte no 5.
I´m trying to pick one of these pieces (Bach´s french suite gavotte no 5 or Beethoven´s sonatina in F) or something at the same level for an audition in four weeks, any suggestions? (the reason I mentioned those two is because i´ve learned them already)
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Alternatively, can someone give me some tips on performing either of these two?
