electric piano recommendation please
on: October 26, 2021, 01:52:11 PM
hi guys

first post, hope everyone is ok during this pandemic times.

few years ago i had a 61 key keyboard to practice with but gave up after few months and now i would like to get something as close to a piano as possible and the electric piano popped in my mind.

lets get the budget out of the way first, my budget is very, very low at 400 pound. now i realize that most of you will think that is no way enough but i have seen some secondhand for around this price but i just dont know which is a decent one.

hope someone can help me please

many thanks

I hear Yamaha and Kawai generally make good stuff, but I don't know what quality they offer in that price range.

i have been looking at casio privia px 160, yamaha p45 and roland fp 10.

i only found out some piano has bluetooth which i would find useful, that would only leave me with the roland fp 10, not too sure about the upgraded one which is the fp 30. would need ot look at the specs.

update:

well the shop only had upright pianos and no digital piano.

been looking on the internet again and now i am leaning more towards the casio px s1000, what do you guys think?

You may consider the Roland FP10 instead. It often comes in a bundle.

EDIT: Having played all of them, I would say go for the Yamaha P45, I definitely liked the sound more than the others. Roland felt very artificial in comparison. You can make a P45 sound good, which is something I can't really say about the Roland. The Casio can sound decent as well, but doesn't sound as natural as the Yamaha, and probably isn't good if you're learning classical piano. It is workable, but the piano preset doesn't have as much control or dynamic range from what I've seen.

are you saying i should get the yamaha p45 instead of the casio s1000?

the updated version of the p45 is the p125 isnt it?

i was close to getting the p125 but really wanted a quite a new model which is the casio s1000.

is it bad if i choose the s1000?

I would say go for the P125. I quite liked it, and the sound is actually good enough to use directly in YouTube videos with the right setup.
