Hey guys! I hope you like my interpretation of the last Beethoven Sonata that I'll be posting for a while (first volume consists of four: Op.10 No.2, Op.13, Op.53 and Op.110).

Link:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
"It is finished!
O comfort to tormented souls!
The funeral night
is approaching its final hour.
The hero of Judah conquers mighty,
and concludes the battle.
It is concluded!"

-Text of the Aria "Es ist vollbracht!", from St. John Passion, composed by J.S. Bach.

Beethoven quotes the melody of this work in the third movement of the Sonata Op.110. However, I believe that the inspiration he takes goes beyond that.

When you listen to this movement (min. 8:22 on the Youtube link), keep in mind that Beethoven writes it after going through a very serious episode of jaundice, which almost led to his death. Listen to his suffering, feel his hope, lament his resignation and, finally, witness that unexpected change, that glimmer of light, that ever-growing strength. And celebrate that end, which is rather a new beginning. An ending that, beyond Beethoven's own experience, I believe represents the triumph of eternal life over death.

The battle is concluded.

anacrusis: Yes! This is part of my first self-launched Album "Beethoven: Piano Sonatas Vol.1" which consists of Opp. 10 No.2, 13, 53 and 110. It would mean so, so much if you could listen to it on spotify, amazon music or deezer! Here's the link where to find all three platforms :) : https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/jorgecarobarrios/beethoven-piano-sonatas-vol-1-opp10-no2-13-53--110
