Need help identifying notation

Please can someone tell me what the vertical line means that I've marked with a red arrow.

It means you play everything within the brackets in the same hand. So, in that example, you play that F in the bass clef with your right thumb. Notice how the stems on those F notes are pointing up? A stem pointing in the "wrong" direction usually means to use the other hand.
