Edinburgh Fringe recital (27th Aug 2022)
on: June 18, 2022, 02:07:31 PM
I will be giving a summer recital of approximately an hour in length:

https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/piano-in-paris

The venue is very central - ten minutes' walk from either main Edinburgh railway station.

My expected programme, exploring the romantic pianism of the mid-19th century, is:

Liszt - Rienzi Fantasy
Alkan - Chanson de la folle au bord de la mer
Saint-Saens - transcription of the Meditation from Thaïs
Liszt - Grande Etude no. 6 (the 1837 version of TE6)
Henselt - Frühlingslied
Wright - Six Preludes
Wright - La Sonnambula Fantasy
Thalberg - Dal tuo stellato soglio

Tickets £10, concessions £6

A small modification to the programme: as I want it to be  somewhat representative of the Parisian piano scene in the 19th century, I have replaced the Henselt with some free improvisation... (and I've always wanted to incorporate improvisation into a recital in any case!)

So the programme will be

Liszt - Rienzi Fantasy
Alkan - Chanson de la folle au bord de la mer
Saint-Saens - transcription of the Meditation from Thaïs
Liszt - Grande Etude no. 6 (the 1837 version of TE6)
Wright - Six Preludes
Free improvisation
Wright - La Sonnambula Fantasy
Thalberg - Dal tuo stellato soglio

A fascinating programme, for which the very best of good luck!
