Schumman - "In Der Nacht" and "Traumes Wirren" from Op. 12
on: June 18, 2022, 06:53:16 PM
Hello all,
Would like to share a recording of two pieces from Schumann's Fantasiestucke op. 12. I'm an adult amateur who has worked on these pieces for the past several months on and off.
Recorded directly from Yamaha N1x using default settings.
Op. 12 no. 5 - In Der Nacht:

Op. 12 no. 8 - Traumes Wirren:

Any constructive criticism and comments welcome!
Edit: For some reason the links don't play for me but if you download the file you should be able to listen to it!

Very impressive! Excellently articulate and lively playing.
I think both pieces could benefit from more contrasting characters in the middle parts:
1. The lyrical section a minute and a half into "In der Nacht" - here I think you could play the accompaniment softer, especially the last note in each spread chord, which now often sounds as if it's part of the melody.
2. The chorale-like section in "Traumes Wirren" - softer, more mysterious, and with very careful legato.
