Favorite Chopin Mazurkas
on: August 22, 2022, 08:27:38 AM
I absolutely love Chopin's Mazurkas. In the past year, I've been getting to know them better and I'm finding that I love them more every day. I'd even venture to say that they are my favorite genre of Chopin. They've helped me understand Chopin as a composer in a much richer way.

Here are my top 10:

Op. 17 no. 1
Op. 17 no. 2
Op. 17 no. 4
Op. 33 no. 4
Op. 50 no. 1
Op. 50 no. 3
Op. 56 no. 3
Op. 59 no. 2
Op. 59 no. 3
Op. 63 no. 2

What are your favorites? Curious to know.

Billy
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. It's solid advice tbh.

op 30 no 2
op 30 no 3*

I don't know them well enough to have a favorit, but I played some of the early ones and even they are delightfully poetic, not just dances.
