is this a realistic goal
on: September 13, 2022, 10:57:57 PM
(i dont know whether to post this here or repertoire)
So, I just started Grade 9(school) and have been in Level 9 RCM for about a month and a half. I expect to be able to play La Campanella(Liszt) by the end of highschool(grade 12).
I finished my level 8 practical exam with a mark of 91, have a pretty good knowledge of techniques and have large hands(10th over the keyboard). I will have been playing for 4 years in November(I skipped a few levels). If this isn't a realistic expectation, are the Chopin Etudes opus. 10 and 25 more reasonable?
If nothing is possible what should I expect by graduation?

It's reasonable. If you are practicing regularly I don't see why you can't make it
Second Year Undergrad:
Bach BWV 914
Beethoven Op. 58
Reger Op. 24 No. 5
Rachmaninoff Op. 39 No. 3 & No. 5

Thank you for boosting my self esteem. I practice every for as long as I need to, which isn’t long because my program is small right now.

If your foundational technique is really good, most of the Chopin Etudes are not necessarily that hard. If there are issues with your technique, the difficulty of the Chopin Etudes increases exponentially.
