L'isle Joyeuse

Hi,
I have recently started playing Debussy's L'isle joyeuse for my program. However, there are many parts with big chords and I have small hands. Also, (maybe from a "half injury" I got from trying to play pieces beyond my ability before) those sections make my wrist hurt. Are there any tricks or techniques to more easily play those big chords? Or is that piece not right for me?

 Hard to diagnose with or help via a forum. Chords should not make your wrists hurt even if you have small hands. Do you have a teacher who can take a look at your technique?

I don't think it is because of my technique because it only appeared after.
