How much does a Master Class cost?
on: February 15, 2005, 03:44:47 AM
How much does a master class by a top-notch pianist (such as Hamelin or Hough) cost? I know some give classes for free, but that is probably an exception. Any thoughts?

Nobody does them for free.  But if a musical organization near you pays for it, they may let you sit in on it (or, if you know the right people, play in it) for no charge.  Others charge a small fee to get in.  I went to a Stephen Hough masterclass at Manhattan School of Music last week, and it was free to the public.

Sorry, slight misunderstanding.

How much does it costs to hire a top-notch pianist to give a masterclass?

I just attended two master classes by Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Abbey Simon for about $5 each I believe (with a student ID).

If you asked about money, you can't afford me.
