Hey, all

Did Bernhard ever publish a teaching book for students?

I've been a member of the forum since the early 2000s, so have read most of his posts, but would love to know.

Regards
Deb in Au

He has an online blog with a compilation of his posts, but I do not think he's published a book.

I'll see if I can dig it up. I don't know if I saved it.

I just went to the link, and browsed through that blog.  There are a lot of reasons to believe the writer is not Bernhard.  If it contains his material, then it would have been collected.

I slogged through the long article on pedagogy.  It looks like something academic, compiled by reading works on the subject.  The actual things described are basic principles for classroom teaching of a school program which we all learn in the first weeks of teachers college.  The methodology is stilted and narrow.  I read about teaching number concepts -  A teacher gauges a student's understanding by asking questions and having students verbalize?  There's TONS wrong with that!  You give students tasks; you observe them solving those tasks; circulate among the students, interact, use multiple senses.

If there is a summary of pedagogy works, then it makes sense for there to be a summary of Bernhard's writings.  I do not believe the writer is Bernhard.

No. I remember the page being greenish in color.

Thanks, Keypeg, for your time and info.  Really appreciate it.

Thanks, Ranjit.  Hope we can source it, if it's still in existence.

Perhaps I should post the request on the student's and teacher's boards, in case some in the know don't see it on the miscellaneous board...

The writer of that blog you linked does state outright that he is not the writer of the articles unless he has put his own name on them, and that they are taken from piano street :)

I also do recall seeing another blog with Bernhards post at some point, but I cannot find it now.

Yes, i saw that he mentioned Piano Street as the source.

I have seen two other blogs over the years that have complied Bernhard's work, too (there may be more now).  Posted here in case anyone is interested:

Just hoped Bernhard himself had written "that" book.... :(
