posting limit for newbies?
on: February 15, 2005, 06:16:21 PM
Okay, this is probably an insane idea. But-
What about having newbies (people who have only been members for say, 1 month) only allowed to post up to 10 posts a day?
It might cut down on the post count insanity.  ::)

I think that idea, or possibly a variation on it, is a good idea.

Ditto.
Favorite pianists include Pollini, Casadesus, Mendl (from the Vienna Piano Trio), Hungerford, Gilels, Argerich, Iturbi, Horowitz, Kempff, and I suppose Barenboim (gotta love the CSO). Too many others.

I think the ones that post very frequently burn out fairly quickly.  I don't pay much attention to them after awhile, unless they're amusing.

Now just imagine if Bernhard started posting like crazy...  ;D

I don't think Lenny's posting at 400/day now, is he?  The fast and frequent are short lived.  Makes things a little interesting too.  Just sit back and enjoy the show.  Overposting is better than not posting at all, as long as there aren't too many doing that.

This statement as it is, is invalid.

Sorry, Bob, I'd take a lurker over an overposter any day.

Not everyone posts just to up their post count. I for one couldn't care less what mine is, although I doubt I'd manage 10+ posts a day anyway. But still, your idea sounds a bit draconian to me.

Nobody said that.  If that were the case, Nils would go broke.

I know, but as long as people aren't spamming there can't be any harm in it. Who's Nils?

You know what, I take that back!
Block these newbies! 2posts a day is good enough!  (and too much in some cases)

Greetings

After reading this thread (and being stuck at 99 posts for days ;)), I decided to go for it and post this useless drivel.

Cheers ;D
