VIDEO: Anime medley. Any ideas for a title?
on: November 21, 2022, 11:55:18 PM
Hello everyone,

I dont have any experience with music theory whatsoever and I dont have a piano teacher so I learn myself. I created this short medley. I am open for criticism and help me find a name for the medley.

I wasn't expecting that, it was really awesome! You're really skilled  8)

As for title, I think you could go for "Anime Medley" haha, or at least include that in the title somewhere. It gets the point across - it's exactly what it says on the box :) If you just call it "Raindrops" or something people won't know what it is.

Thanks for that. I have to say I'm surprised and impressed too! Surprised, because the anime reference (and 'medley', and synthesia blobs) suggested something much less technically difficult. I was about to hit the back button when I saw anacrusis' comment and waited a bit longer.

I'm no expert, but you do seem to have bags of natural talent. I find myself wondering what else - what serious pieces of music - you're capable of, because the content isn't to my taste at all. I also wonder if you've studied piano formally at all, or if you have plans to, and what age you are. Seeing the synthesia graphics accompany most of your videos on youtube, I wonder if people actually learn to play piano that way - working up to faster and faster pieces following the falling blobs - I've no idea. I'd love to hear a bit about your journey to this point. :)
Sorry if I don't reply for a while - I'm not getting notifications from this site.

Not the OP, but I did learn largely like this for a while. I think it accompanies a decent ability to play by ear and remember music. So you can quickly get your hands around the notes without having to learn to read sheet music. Within a few short months, you can play all sorts of popular songs using synthesia. That was my experience, at least. But I would say that reading synthesia is about the same as "typing" notes from sheet music.

I used to follow the anime piano community. There are a lot of inspiring stories of people teaching themselves piano quite well, like the OP. Theishter, for example, is self-taught.

When you introduced your video with saying you had no training in music theory and was self taught I assumed it would be more like an intermediate amateur playing some simpler anime music, maybe having some trouble along the way. Instead I got a really skilled and fluent player showing off some serious chops :)
