Easy way to see replies to posts...
on: February 16, 2005, 11:24:54 PM
I don't really know who I'd pose this to, but I'd like to see a button that when clicked  will show you all replies newly posted to any topics or replies you yourself have posted.   Also, a button to see any new replies/posts since your last visit would be helpful.  I've seen these in other forums and it cuts down the amount of time spent  searching through posts.  Thanks!

This is the best I've figured out....

Set up notifcations to your email.  Filter all the pf notifications into one folder.  Be sure to set your profile to 1) setup a notification for each thread you reply on and 2) send you a notification EVERY time a thread you are watching gets replied to, otherwise you get one email and the site waits until you go to that thread page again until it notifies you.

(feels Bernhardian)  Have a look here...

I was trying to figure out a way to sort my notifcations by priority of importance so the threads I considered more important are easier to watch.  Hence, the [Bob asks] and [Bob project] tags I use(d) for filtering notifications for threads I wanted to pay special attentions to.  I get a lot of notifications the way I've got things set up now.  I can easily overlook one.

There are also those little blue "new" bubbles that appear next to threads that have new replies.  You have to be logged in for the site to record your movements though apparently.

You know when you were here last, right?  (If not, your profile tells you.)  Do a seach for a period (.)  back that many days.  Set the search for  .      Set the number of days.  Have it tell you the full message.  Sort the search by most recent.   It gets easier once it's automatic.

The search button and your profile button are up there on near the top of each screen.  Under the "Piano Forum" script heading and the Home-Forum-Search-Profile-Store-About part.  It's the little globe and people icon.

Hope that helps.  You can also sort the threads in each board by date (most recent, and reverse-chornological order), by reply, by poster name, etc.  That can be interesting too.

You're right though.  Buttons would be much easier for all this.  This is the best I have figured out after being on here awhile.
