Chopin Etude Op 25 No 1
on: August 23, 2023, 01:51:25 PM
Hello!
I hope you are doing well. I’ve recently started etude 25/1 and I’m struggling on keeping the sound smooth and consistent with both hands, especially when pedalling. So far I’ve been practicing each hand separately throughout the whole piece and also two hands together (slowly) on the first and second page. Another thing is the LH jumps in bars one and five. My piano teacher has mentioned keeping the wrist relaxed and the outwards arm circles, so kept that in mind 👍🏻. Are there any useful practice techniques anyone can recommend to help?
Thanks a lot!

Nothing in particular other than focus on keeping hands relaxed and soft (don't stretch the fingers out), and listen closely to the sound you are making. Ultimately making the sound you want is what you need to practice, so if you practice with unsmooth and inconsistent sound, you'll struggle to get it the way you want when you put everything together and add the pedals.
