A couple of contrasting improvisations
on: September 15, 2023, 11:26:22 AM
From a couple of years back, and now written out, so the videos are with sheet music.

Firstly, a dreamy, nocturne-like miniature.

Secondly, influenced by Alkan's Le chemin de fer, Liszt's Scherzo and March and indeed probably also his Gnomenreigen, a possibly slightly eccentric musical depiction of elves and pixies stealing a train (!). Because it was improvised during a period of lockdown, the piano isn't in the best tuning in the treble, and in part this is why I wrote it out by ear, seeing as I rather like the piece and would like to re-record it under more favourable circumstances.
