Doug, you need to help us out a little more.  The Pathetique Sonata  is a fairly long sonata.   If you tell us the movement (1st, 2nd or 3rd) and section, or best of all the measure number within that movement, we could give you specific advice on the pedaling.  But realistically, it would be impossible to tell you how to pedal the entire sonata here.

actually, RachFan, I think that he is talking about a different sonata. the Pathetique is Op.13 (isn't it?). Op.10No.1 is a great sonata (not too demanding) but much underplayed. If you specify what you mean, Doug, I'll help you. I studied this sonata, I know it quite well.

Hi ayahav,

You're right, at first glance I was misled by the c minor.  It is indeed the earlier sonata.

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
