Help! Blister!
on: January 21, 2024, 07:29:00 PM
Earlier today I got a blister on my right middle finger (from playing bass guitar but that's not really relevant) and the trouble is, it's now kinda painful to play anything on piano with that finger, because the blister's right on the tip. :(
I really don't want to pop/ drain it for various reasons, and I would be okay (though not happy) to take a break from piano under normal circumstances; however, I have an exam (G7) in 4 weeks and I really do need to practise, especially scales.  :o
What do I do? Is there a kind of stopgap I could use to make do until the blister heals? Do I have time for that? Help!! :-\

I'd suggest letting it rest a couple of days. Meanwhile, I bet there's passages for which your left hand needs extra practice. Work on them. Also, mental practice imagining how you want the pieces to sound in careful detail. It doesn't rake long for a blister to heal, and you can make progress even with your right hand out of commission for a few days.

To prevent further irritation and promote healing, you can protect the blister with a bandage or adhesive hydrocolloid dressing. These dressings provide a protective barrier while allowing the blister to heal naturally.
