Auditions for RCMJD
on: March 01, 2024, 12:47:24 PM
Hi there,
I’m a student in England right now, and am auditioning for first study voice and second study piano at the junior department of royal college of music in London. I’m planning to play the Debussy Arabesque no 1 at the audition. I passed ABRSM Grade 8 when I was twelve with a distinction, and am working some other pieces such as Chopin etude op 25 no 1 and op 10 no 9, does anyone have experience of being in rcm with second study piano? Do I have a chance of getting in at all?
Thank you! 🙂

i go to something similar but up north at the Sage gateshead. The level contrasts alot, alot of people played grade pieces for their entry. i didnt, i played chopins first ballade and debussy arabeque no 2. However the pieces you play dont matter if they are at least grade 7/8. The thing that truly matters is how well you play them. good luck!

Are you an oversees student? If not it’s very 50/50 even if you play excellently. That’s just the reality. Good luck

Sorry if the way I phrased it was misleading, I’m Chinese but have lived in England my whole life  :)

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
