Impressionism and Jazz/Blues
on: March 08, 2024, 12:56:11 PM
Is it just me or people who tend to like Impressionism also really like Jazz/Gospel/Blues?
I am an example and I know numerous people who also are, any reason for this?

I think both genres are about atmosphere and mood and using more colorful sounds than the normal triads used in strictly classical music.
Ravel's Violin Sonata No. 2 was even inspired by Jazz and Blues.
