New Music - Yuja Wang - The American Project

Any reviewers of new music out there?  Thoughts about Michael Tilson Thomas' piece for YW - "You Come Here Often"?
Good to see new music.  I think it's great, didn't know MTT composed.
Also on that album - a new piano concerto - Terry Abrams’ Piano Concerto

Sounds jazzy to my not-very-jazz-acquainted ears.

"New music" - I listened to a new release by one of my favorite bands before. Somehow I get the feeling that's not what you're asking about? :p

I just feel like most current concert pianists don't pull off jazz-inspired music well. Yuja Wang's Tea for Two is awful too.

What do you think they are missing? I don't know enough about jazz music to able to detect or articulate what's missing.

Take a listen to both of these:

Are you using Tiger Rag for comparison?

Better use stride revivalist Matt DeChamplain's version instead. IMO by far the best attempt at Tatum's arrangement. He also does his own improvs over the original.
