Adams - Hallelujah Junction
on: May 01, 2024, 05:19:50 PM
i have wanted to play this devilishly difficult two piano piece for a long time and finally found someone willing to learn it with me. Hallelujah Junction is an actual place, a truck stop near Nevada and California border somewhere, and john adams wrote it was a "title in need of a piece." so he wrote this in 1996.

it has incredible lush harmony, very difficult rhythmic exchanges, raucuos dissonance and also tender lyricism. it really has everything. the little melodic cells are generally based on the syllabic pronounciation of Hallelujah and its shorter versions.

this was our first public performance of this and i hope to do many more. please enjoy

Great piece! I enjoyed this so much, I'm sharing the video with others. You both look like you're enjoying it and it was fun to watch the ensemble and cues.
Don't let anyone know where you tie your goat.

A joy to watch and listen to – I'm happy you two guys found each other!
