Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsodies
on: June 22, 2024, 07:27:36 PM
Out of the 19, which ones are your favorites and which ones do you think are hardest?

I've only listened to no. 3, 6, 9, 10, and countless variations on no. 2. Of those, no. 9, 10, and certain variations of 2 are probably the hardest. I'd say that my favorite of them (excluding the cadenza for no. 2) would probably be no. 3.
Thoughts?

I've heard 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, and 19. My favorite so far is 19, but I also really like Horowitz's arrangement of 2. Hardest is probably 10.
last 3 schubert sonatas and piano trios are something else

This thread hits me with the fact that I've only really listened to no 2, 6 and 11. They're all enjoyable, but I think I like no 2 and 6 the most. I think I've heard a couple more but can't really remember them. Maybe it's time to remedy that. Any recommendations?

I love 19. It's the only Hungarian Rhapsody I have the intention of learning in the future out of the ones I've listened to. (Partially because of the difficulty too lol)

No. 3 is also pretty good.

Edit: just listened to no. 19. I'd say it's 3rd best IMO. The coda in particular is amazing.

No. 10 is the hardest, unless you're using some insane cadenza for no. 2.
No. 1 is my personal favorite.
