ARSM diploma repertoire
on: July 20, 2024, 01:24:35 PM

My aim is simple: I want to pass the ARSM diploma on piano. I'm happy to play any pieces on the syllabus and am happy to pass with one mark to spare! I did grade 8 about 20 years ago and have started playing again now. Currently I am working on Debussy La Plus que Lente, Mozart Adagio, and Brahms opus 118 no 3. I'm starting to make some progress with them all. My question is, what can I add to this programne to satisfy the tempi requirements?

I'm not proud! It needs to be the simplest technically that I can get away with, and the slowest speed that would be acceptable. I suppose whatever is recommended could be within my 10 mins own choice outside the syllabus.

Please don't judge me too harshly on the above. I'm loving working on these pieces and enjoying my ultimate aim. I'm 67 now and enjoying the opportunity to focus on something different and challenging.

So, I want to pass, no frills, just the simplest programne technically I can pass with. I did grade 8 self taught (having had piano lessons as as young boy) and am doing the same with this. I will get a teacher once I've got most of the notes under my belt.

Many thanks.

It just has to be a varied programme. I'm not good at fast 'tempi' and so am looking to satisfy the requirements. The Brahms is energetic and taken quite fast but I was wondering whether that would be enough to satisfy the varied tempi requirements for the diploma without more perhaps.
