Czerny First Instruction in Piano Playing
on: August 14, 2024, 06:58:49 PM
Hi,
Longtime member here but mostly a Trumpet and classical guitar player. I love piano and Bach of course. I finally want to learn piano. I was wondering if this is a good book to start off with or some beginner classical pieces you can recommend. I have played Amazing Grace and Fur Elise but that was a long time ago.

Well, Czerny is old, and maybe a teacher could guide you faster and provide more interesting stuff ?

They're all old. You can't go wrong from a student of Beethoven. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the reply.

If you get bored with Czerny's book at some point, take a look at the RCM syllabi to get some other ideas - there's a lot to explore in these pdf's and on their website.

There are other online lists... this site looks interesting:   https://pianosyllabus.com/x-default.php

Thanks I'll take a look. I also bought Piano Adventures Adult method and Burgmüller, Czerny & Hanon -- Piano Studies Selected for Technique and Musicality, Bk 1 by Ingrid Jacobson Clarfield
