Favorite Popular Early Advanced Piece
on: October 11, 2024, 03:54:13 AM
I realize my "favorite popular beginner piece" thread was a misnomer. I included pieces that didn't present extreme difficulties, but not many of them were really beginner pieces. These are more middle of the road in the Henle scale.

I set this to 3 votes to make the results more interesting.
last 3 schubert sonatas and piano trios are something else

The only one I haven't played is the Schubert Impromptu.  I would like to work on that sometime - a musically challenging and beautiful piece.
Sometimes I play the 3rd movement of the pathetique for fun, same with the moonlight.
I play Claire de Lune upon request from "the relatives", though I'm not really paying attention.  ;)
I'm more of an advocate of promoting pieces that are wonderful, but for whatever reason, are not as well known.

Of course - but I've come to realize that we'll only get votes on these polls if they consist of frequently played pieces, unfortunately. I do agree that there are many unrecognized works that should get more attention, but those go in different threads.

What we are discussing is what we like about these frequently played, sometimes overhated pieces.
