Chopin Nocturnes vs Brahms Intermezzi vs Mendelssohn Wordless Songs
on: October 20, 2024, 01:47:20 PM
I am an intermediate pianist. I want to know from you all, about the ascending order of learning and performance difficulties in the above sets of short Romantic Piano Pieces. And some pieces from each which are suitable for an intermediate pianist like me to learn.

I think the ratio of emotional intensity and beauty to technical difficulty is highest for the late Brahms short piano pieces. Some are less difficult than others, but they are all great. Just listen to them and pick one or two.

It depends on which piece from each of the collections. They all have both intermediate level pieces as well as really hard ones. Mendelssohn probably has some of the easiest pieces overall but also some quite nasty ones.
