If you’re in the market for a piano, be cautious of a new scam that’s targeting music lovers, businesses, schools, and churches. international/national competitions to sign up for?
on: January 28, 2025, 03:57:23 PM
Hi guys I'm 15F but about to turn 16 next month. I've been playing piano since I was 5 and just recently I started doing competitions and performing at major halls like Carnegie/Lincoln center (from golden key music festival). I was wondering if there are any other competitions that are available sometime soon? I just submitted the 2025 application for golden key (under Theme of Paginini Op 18 by Rachmaninoff). My music teacher doesn't speak much English (she's from Georgia) but I remember she used to talk about a competition called AFAB and American protege? I am unsure of how to sign up for those though and if the deadline has passed.
For context, I don't mind if I have to learn pieces for competition, but my schedule is very busy. I usually practice an hour a day every day (except on my birthday!) but I didn't do any piano testing.

Oh, P.S. the reason why I want to do these competitions is for college applications. I'm planning to major in nursing/psychology but minor in music. I also think it's pretty good for a resume since I am also a piano teacher   :D

Wow! You’ve already accomplished quite a bit at just 15! Performing at prestigious halls like Carnegie or Lincoln is a dream for many pianists. Consider the American Protégé or Chopin International Piano Competition if you're looking for more competitions. Good luck with your Rachmaninoff – that’s a great choice!
