Arrangement Question

I have a piece of sheet music with numerous measures in which the exact same note in both the treble & bass clefs are apparently intend to be played together. (See example below). Why is this written this way & how is it intended to be played? Thank you for your help.

Schumann does that a lot.  In his music it's often about nothing more than "proper composition", showing the lines of the different parts - Bass, Tenor, Alto, Soprano (etc).  It's up to the pianist which hand to play the duplicated note with.

In this case it seems to be mostly to show that the note is held (half notes).  This isn't the only way to notate it, but that's how this arranger did it.  I would still play the F and G with the left hand, but hold it.
